Learning Objectives

  • Identify ten building design, construction and use issues that historically and currently can negatively impact IAQ and worker health
  • Analyze how these ten issues may negatively impact IAQ and worker health
  • Develop potential means of preventing or mitigating the issues identified
  • Provide insights regarding reasons for these issues continuing to be used

About the Speaker

Dale Walsh is a Certified Industrial Hygienist, Certified Safety Professional, and LEED Accredited Professional with a Master of Science in Toxicology from the University of Arizona. He has 27 years consulting experience in the areas of indoor air quality, worker exposure monitoring, and OSHA compliance.  He has his own consulting company providing services to diverse clients such as military contractors, hotel/casinos, homeowners, property managers, and local government agencies.  He participated in the writing of the Indoor Environmental Quality chapter of the 2012 International Green Construction Code and has served as a Director with the Nevada US Green Building Council.  He has also been past President of local industrial hygiene and safety related organizations and currently participates on ASTM committees involving indoor air quality. Mr. Walsh was named the Southern Nevada ASSE Chapter’s Safety Professional of the Year in 2009 and won the USGBC Nevada Chapter’s 2012 Green Building Advocacy award.
