Meaningful Work From Day One Lead Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards as the Health and Safety subject matter expert, while promoting a positive, behavior based, safety culture through leadership and employee engagement and education in support of Brown-Forman’s Responsible Production mindset. Responsible for implementing health and safety programs at Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards, as prescribed by OSHA, Cal-OSHA, other local, state, and governmental agencies, and Brown-Forman, ensuring regulatory compliance and an enhanced safety culture. Maintains expertise of state and federal OSHA/Governmental regulations and compliance requirements, Brown-Forman safety policies and industry norms and practices related to providing a safe, and compliant operating environment at the site. Develops and implements safety policies and practices; coordinates and conducts planned safety audits, safety related training and periodic review and evaluation of safety procedures and practices; supports and advises the site’s safety committees; and serves as the primary liaison with the Global Health and Safety Manager, Corporate Security Director and Risk Management on safety and security related issues. Develops and implements current and new initiatives, programs, and process improvements to reduce injuries and illnesses and continuous improvement programs for overall Health and Safety performance. Responsible for maintaining written safety programs, and partners with individual departments in the preparation of written JRAs and SOPs, as they pertain to safety. Manages safety related costs (capital and expense), provides health and safety guidance for capital projects, provides input into safety related budgetary items, tracks performance to plan and prepares reports and presentations on costs associated with safety programs and metrics. Creates accountability programs with all functions and associates to aggressively minimize incidents and injuries. Maintains constant communication with the site’s Leadership Team helping lead the problem-solving process for Health and Safety.
What You Can Expext
Safety and Health – 90%
Provide proactive leadership of all Health and Safety programs at Sonoma-Cutrer Vineyards.
Support Global Production’s key performance indicators of SMQPDC, and lead with a Responsible Production mindset.
Ensure 100% compliance of the site’s operation with regulatory requirements relating to Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Health and Safety.
Develop and implement current and new initiatives, programs and process improvements to reduce injuries and illnesses and continuous improvement programs for overall Health and Safety performance.
Monitor safety related costs (capital and expense), capital requests, provide input into safety related budgetary items, track performance to plan and prepare reports and presentations on costs associated with safety programs and metrics.
Create accountability programs with all functions and associates to aggressively minimize incidents and injuries.
Develop and implement safety committees to drive employee and leadership involvement in safety performance.
Develop and maintain excellent local and state agency relationships.
Support and conduct Health and Safety compliance assurance and B-F Metrics audits and provide sustainable corrective actions for resolution.
Facilitate incident investigations to determine root cause and identify sustainable solutions utilizing 5whys/7ways.
Conduct ergonomic evaluations and drive for short- and long-term corrective actions to reduce Musculoskeletal injuries and resultant worker compensation costs.
Create and deliver highly impactful/interactive injury reduction and regulatory required training.
Establish proactive Health and Safety culture and reduce risk taking behaviors to prevent accidents in the workplace.
Manage data on B-F Corporate Google/Salesforce site and prepare reports as necessary.
Support B-F wellness activities to promote workplace and employee health.
Worker Compensation – 10%
Working with the HR manager, handling local worker compensation claims, issues and disability costs through B-F claims management practices, Active Caring, and Return to Work programs.
Work with Corporate Safety Manager and HR Manager for all local claims settlement and case management decisions.
We Are Looking For People Who
Perform associated and other duties as required.
Have a BS or BA Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, or related discipline and minimum 3 years of H&S experience – leading Health and Safety compliance programs in a manufacturing environment.
Strong knowledge of OSHA and Cal-OSHA regulations.
Manufacturing operations experience required, preferably in Agriculture and Food/Beverage industry
Demonstrated ability to lead in a cross-functional team and cross-functional departments.
Excellent oral, written and training communication skills.
Ability to prioritize and drive multiple programs.
Proven record of problem solving, results and accomplishments.
Demonstrated knowledge of Health, Safety, Security, Fire and Government regulations.
Strong Computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, etc.)
Bilingual communication verbal and written – English/Spanish
Willingness to travel within site’s locations

What You Can Add To The Team
Education: BS or BA Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science or related discipline.
Experience: Minimum 3 years of H&S experience – leading Health and Safety compliance programs in a manufacturing environment.
Advanced computer skills

Board Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
